Player Profile:
In season 2006-7, Royal Holloway Old Boys FC 2nd XI conceded 55 goals. The following season, they conceded just 28. The difference was James Hobson. Having been a regular in the 1st XI the previous season, James found himself in the Ressies after an influx of new players, and not surprisingly, skipper Roy was keen to hang on to the player who went on to be Player of the Season. Originally a recruit of Rob Saltrese (to show he does know what he's doing in his day job), Hobbo also completed another transformation, that of the Old Boys financial accounts after the mess of the Nkrumah financial era. Hobbo originally made his debut in the Reserves in a game against Chiddingfold, and soon found out that trying to play the ball out of defence through midfield in the Old Boys is not always a good idea...his cultured pass to Frank was miscontrolled, and an opponent strode on to smash the ball home and set up an 8-1 win.
